BitDefender Internet Security 2012

BitDefender Internet Security has a detection rate of 97.6% for finding Viruses, Worms, and Trojans. The detection rate for Adware and Spyware is 88% which is low in comparison with other internet suites. However, pro-active Malware recognition delivers much higher ratings.
In addition to its Anti-Virus this Internet Security Suite offers a Firewall, child protection and an Anti-Spam module. WLan monitoring prevents unauthorized access to your WLan network. BitDefender also prevents data loss through security holes in your email program, internet or instant messaging. Chat conversations are even encrypted.
BitDefender is squarely in the mid range as far as scanning speed is concerned. A negative side effect in performance is the relatively high usage of system resources of this software. This is especially reduces performance on systems with low RAM.
BitDefender is not recommended for novices, since the user interface is not easy to use and has a bit of a learning curve.
Advantages
- Good price to performance ratio
- Very high virus recognition (98%)
- Good reaction time to new threats
- User adjustable security level
Disadvantages
- Use of software a bit difficult for novices
- Low recognition rate for Ad- und Spyware
Summary:
BitDefender Internet Security is basically a reliable program and protects from many internet threats. In our opinion, however, you can find better internet Security software on the market. Using the software is not exactly easy and may present a challenge to computer novices.

(PS: I have tried a few and am staying with Bit)
Had the same problems which Roscoe describes, but after upgrading to Bitdefender 2011, for free, all was solved.
The price is good and you may use the software on 3 workstations.
The user interface could be better indeed.
BitDefender 2011 sucks...
It's not fully compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.
It will bring you a lot of small, but very annoying issues, which can't be solved. When you address the problems to support, they will come up with some very basic knowledge and solutions. In other words they act like noobs and amateurs.
I'm sorry to say, I really liked the 2010 version, but the new 2011 is filled with small bugs, which will mess up your system...
